Joshua Finnell

Joshua Finnell leads research and instruction initiatives, with a focus on data policy, infrastructure, and training, in the Case Library and Geyer Center for Information Technology at Colgate University in New York.

He currently serves on the steering committee for the DMPTool, Library Pipeline, and the Awesome Libraries Chapter of the Awesome Foundation. He’s held board positions on the Santa Fe Public Library, MAKE Santa Fe,  and the Figshare Institutional Repository Advisory Group. In addition to being a member of the Research Data Alliance, he has served on the planning committee for both the Digital Library Forum and the Research Data Access & Preservation Summit. 

His research has received funding from the Central New York Library Resources Council, The Lampert Institute for Civic and Global Affairs, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory Educational Outreach Fund. He was named to the Emerging Leader Class of the American Library Association in 2009, named a Mover and Shaker by Library Journal in 2012, and selected in 2018 for the Harvard Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians.
